For many of us, our dogs are more than pets. They are emotional companions, mirrors of our energy, and steady reminders to stay grounded in the present moment.
But what happens when we’re struggling with our own mental health — anxiety, depression, trauma, or just the overwhelm of daily life? Can we still train our dogs effectively? More importantly, how can our training process support not just their wellbeing, but ours too?
The answer: heart-centered training.
Dogs are incredibly intuitive creatures. They pick up on our tone, posture, body language, and emotional shifts. When we’re anxious, impatient, or emotionally scattered, our dogs feel it too — and it can affect their behavior.
That’s why we approach training with mindfulness, awareness, and compassion — for your dog and for yourself. We recognize that every training day may look different. And that’s okay.
Training your dog can be a form of grounding and emotional regulation. When approached intentionally, it becomes a practice in:
Being Present – Dogs live in the now. Training asks us to join them there.
Slowing Down – Breathing, pausing, and taking breaks.
Holding Space – For our dogs’ reactions and for our own emotions.
We’ve seen it time and again: as our clients grow in confidence and calm, so do their dogs.
At Wild Heart K9, we hold space for you as much as for your dog. Whether you're navigating a stressful season or living with chronic mental health challenges, we want your experience with us to feel supportive and safe.
That’s why our training is:
Trauma-informed
Flexible and personalized
Focused on connection and mindfulness
You’re not just teaching your dog. You’re reconnecting with yourself, learning to lead with heart, and healing together.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed in a traditional training setting, you’re not alone — and you’re in the right place. We’re here to help you grow alongside your dog, in a space that values mental wellness and emotional safety.
Because the journey isn’t just about obedience — it’s about so much more.
